Additional notes regarding the technical specifiaction of Yamaha Smax:
- The fuel efficiency (shown as fuel consumption above) shows how efficient is a certain motorcycle in converting the chemical energy of the fuel into kinetic energy. It is usually measured by how many liters are needed to travel 100 kilometers (L/100km) or by what distance in miles can be traveled with one gallon of fuel (mpg). It means that based on its technical specifications Yamaha Smax will burn a gallon of fuel on every 81.1 miles of your trip or 2.90 liters on every 100km. It can be calculated that Yamaha Smax can cover a mileage of 162 miles with a tank full of fuel based on its fuel efficiency and fuel tank capacity - 7.6 liters.
- 155 cc engine displacement - that is the volume enclosed by the movement of the pistons from their lower to their upper position in the cylinders. Bigger displacement volume usually means more powerful motorcycle engine and less miles per gallon. The displacement is commonly specified in cc (cubic centimeters) or liters and based on the Yamaha Smax specifications its engine displacement is 155 cubic centimeters.
- 130 mm ground clearance - this can be defined as the distance between the lowest point of the Smax's chassis and the level ground surface below it. Motorcycles with lower ground clearance would have better handling as their center of gravity will be lower than average.Bore and stroke measures of Yamaha Smax
- 58x58.7 bore and stroke - bore is indeed the size of the piston presented by its diameter and stroke is the depth of the piston measured from top to bottom. The stroke value actually represents the distance that the piston undergo in one stroke. The bore diameter of Yamaha Smax is 58 mm and the stroke length is 58.7 mm as per its technical specification. If the bore is shorter than the stroke as it is with this Yamaha engine then we say that Smax has a long-stroke engine.
- Compression ratio 11:1 means that the volume of gas in the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke refers to the volume of gas when the piston is at the top of its stroke as 11:1. Premium fuel might be recommended for some motorcycles with high levels of compression ration in order to avoid engine knocking. If you got a motorcycle with a greater compression ratio for its specific engine it is getting better fuel economy than it would if it had a lesser compression ratio.
- Belt final drive: There are currently three ways to drive power from a motorcycle engine to its rear wheel - chain, belt and shaft drive. Since they all have their specific advantages it is hard to tell the best among them. Manufacturers have used all of them over the year and each one has turned out to be a workable technology. The final drive of Yamaha Smax is belt.
motorcycle driven by beltBelts are usually made of strong aramid fibers covered with synthetic rubber and are resistant to environmental pollutants. They are smoother than chain drives, less expensive than shafts and require less frequent adjustment. Belt drives are more economically effective than the shaft drive in driving power from the engine to the rear wheel and smoother than chain drives.
- Liquid cooling: the constant cooling of the motorcycle engine is mandatory for its efficiency and durability. Liquid cooling is generally used in multi-cycinder engines with higher horsepower usually found in sport bikes and touring motorcycles to keep the engine in its optimal temperature range for its efficient performance.Turn signals of Yamaha Smax
- You can easily find out how to replace the Yamaha Smax turn signals and quickly do it yourself. Generally the motorcycle turn signals wires are color coded and disconnecting them is not a problem. The next step is to locate the bolts that hold them in position. Connect the wires properly after the new Yamaha Smax turn signals are placed in position.Picture of Yamaha Smax cover
The motorcycle cover protects the bike from the elements and the dimensions of the Yamaha Smax are important when choosing one. The overall measures of the bike could be increased by some aftermarket accessories. The cover length, width and height might need to be bigger if saddle bags, fairings or backrest have been installed on the motorcycle.
