Additional notes regarding the technical specifiaction of Yamaha MT-09:
- Fuel consumption (economy) is usually presented in L/100km (shows how many liters of fuel it consumes per 100 kilometers) or in MPG (shows how many miles it can go with one gallon of fuel). In the average case Yamaha MT-09 will burn 5.60 liters on every 100km of your trip. That is based on the technical specifications of the motorcycle and may vary depending on several factors as style of riding, temperature, road condition etc. As per the MPG number it will run for 42 miles while burning one gallon of fuel. Taken into consideration that it has a 14.0 liters (or 3.7 gallons)s fuel tank capacity it can be calculated that Yamaha MT-09 can run 250 kilometers or 155 miles with a full fuel tank.
- 847 cc engine size (displacement) - this is the total volume enclosed in the movement of all pistons in the engine cylinders from their bottom to their top position in a stroke. In the common case the bigger the displacement volume the more powerful the engine and lesser fuel economy. As per the specification table here the displacement volume of the Yamaha MT-09 engine is 847 cc. It is specified in cubic centimeters (cc) or liters.
- 135 mm ground clearance is the shortest distance measured from the ground to the chassis of MT-09. Usually off-road bikes have higher ground clearance while sport bikes have lower ground clearance.Bore and stroke diagram of Yamaha MT-09
- 78x59.1 bore and stroke - bore is indeed the size of the piston presented by its diameter and stroke is the depth of the piston measured from top to bottom. The stroke value actually represents the distance that the piston undergo in one stroke. According to the technical specifications of Yamaha MT-09 its bore is 78 mm and the stroke is 59.1 mm. If bore is bigger than stroke as it is with this Yamaha engine then we say that MT-09 has a short stroke engine.
- Compression ratio 11.5:1 means that the volume of gas in the cylinder when the piston is at the bottom of its stroke refers to the volume of gas when the piston is at the top of its stroke as 11.5:1. Premium fuel might be recommended for some motorcycles with high levels of compression ration in order to avoid engine knocking. Higher compression ratio means bigger pressure of the fuel/air mix in the combustion chamber and better efficiency achieved of its ignition.
- Chain final drive: If you wonder which of the final drive variations is best in driving power from the engine to the rear wheel, the answer is that all of them have specific advantages and may surpass the rest in performance on certain occasions and style of riding. Manufacturers have used all of them over the year and each one has turned out to be a workable technology. The final drive of Yamaha MT-09 is chain.
motorcycle driven by chainIt is a fact that the majority of motorcycles around the world are driven by chains. Chains are simple and efficient way to transmit horsepower from the engine to the rear wheel. However all chains require keeping an eye on them and proper lubrication when they get dry and cleaning when they get dirty.
- Liquid cooling: cooling the engine and keeping the heat off the biker is one of the concerns in today's motorcycle designs. Some of the main advantages of the liquid cooled motorcycles are their better performance in high traffic and speeding and that generally their engines are deigned with higher horsepower.Turn signals of Yamaha MT-09
- Replacing the turn signals of Yamaha MT-09 is not a difficult undertaking and usually turns out to be much simpler than expected. Generally the motorcycle turn signals wires are color coded and disconnecting them is not a problem. If they are connected by box connection then just the male and female ends need to be clipped off. Connect the wires properly after the new Yamaha MT-09 turn signals are placed in position.Yamaha MT-09 protective cover
The dimensions of the Yamaha MT-09 are important when choosing a motorcycle cover. Some aftermarket accessories can change the overall dimensions of the bike. A larger cover will be needed if the motorcycle has an additional backrest, sissy bar or panniers fitted.
