A good way to figure out whether BMW S1000RR or Ducati Monster 796 is better matching your personal style and requirements is to compare their specifications and features in details. Your choice of motorcycle should be all about your individual preferences and comfort level. After comparing one motorcycle versus another and so on, the circle of favourite models will be then eventually narrowed to several ones. A good way to find the most suitable one among them would be to sit on each of them and if possible ride it for a while.

The bigger engine size of BMW S1000RR in comparison to Ducati Monster 796 doesn't mean that it is more powerful or better performing bike. The first of the bikes has a bigger compression ratio (13:1) which is economically better. This is the ration of the volumes in the cylinder in two stages of the stroke when the piston is at the lowest and then at the highest point in the cylinder. The bigger compression ratio means better fuel economy comparing engines with the same displacement because the mixture of fuel and air in the combustion chamber burns more effectively.
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Ducati Monster 796 which can travel 42 miles with one gallon of fuel. BMW S1000RR on the contrary can travel 37.9 miles with a gallon. When measured in mpg the fuel economy shows how many miles can be traveled with a gallon of fuel. Alternatively when measure in l\100km it shows the fuel consumption in litters per 100 kilometer trip.
how to buy motorcycle tires Motorcycle tyres come in variety of sizes and these sizes are strongly specified for each model. Another considerable factor here is your own riding style. You need to know what the code designators printed on the tire mean in order to be able to find the proper size for your bike. The width of the tire measured in millimeters is shown first. Both motorcycles have the same with of their front tires - 120 mm. The second number show the aspect ratio. How many inches is the diameter of the rim - that is what the tird number reveals. A good way to save some time and money is to purchase your motorcycle tires online at competitive price.
The ground clearance (ride height) of BMW S1000RR is 140mm and is smaller than the clearance of Ducati Monster 796 which is 150mm. The ground clearance is also called the ride height and that is the distance between the base of the tyre and underside of the motorcycle’s body (the chassis). In other words that is the shortest distance between the road surface and the lowest mechanical part of the motorcycle.
Comparing the top speed values of both motorcycles we can see that BMW S1000RR is the faster one with 305km/h. As per the technical data of Ducati Monster 796 it would be behind it on the highway with 203km/h. Sometimes of course motorcycle speed statistics may be contradictory from various sources.
final drive implemented with chain Chain final drive is used with both motorcycles - the BMW S1000RR and the Ducati Monster 796. Chain drives are by far the most popular final drive technology in the history of motorcycles and are the most economical way to drive power from the engine to the rear wheel. Many bikers may complain of the need of constant care though. Since the chain is exposed to dust, sun and rain it needs to be periodically cleaned and properly lubricated.
Compression ratio Imagine an engine's piston is at the bottom of its stroke (step one) and moves up compressing the gas in the cylinder till it reaches its top position of the stroke (step 2). The compression ratio is the ration of the volume in step one over the volume in step two. Its value for BMW S1000RR is 13:1 and for Ducati Monster 796 is 11:1 based on the technical data of the motorcycles. To avoid engine knocking when compression ratio is high those motorcycles might be recommended to use premium fuel only. Higher compression ratio means bigger pressure of the fuel/air mix in the combustion chamber and better efficiency achieved of its ignition.
The good quality of the engine oil is an important factor in keeping the motorcycle in peak condition. Engine oils are different types as synthetic, mineral, part-synthetic and they all come at their price and qualities. It is commonly accepted engine oil to be changed on every 3700 miles (6000 kilometers). The quality of the synthetic oil allows up to 5000 miles (8000 km) between oil changes. Replacing the oil filter is also to be considered on each engine oil change. The oil capacity of BMW S1000RR is 3.9 litres and the engine oil of Ducati Monster 796 is 3.7 litres as per their technical specs. When changing the oil it is advisable to put less than the specified oil capacity and to check the level. Pouring exactly the proper amount of oil needed is achieved by observing the level sight window or the dipstick marks.
