Ducati 848 has a smaller engine displacement than BMW K1200GT but the size if the engine itself is doesn't mean that the bike is more or less powerful. The bigger compression ratio of 13:1 belongs to the first bike. This parameter shows how the volume in the engine cylinder when the piston is at the bottom end relates to the volume when the piston is at the top end. The bigger compression ratio means better fuel economy comparing engines with the same displacement because the mixture of fuel and air in the combustion chamber burns more effectively.
The bike with a better fuel economy is the Ducati 848 which can travel 44.4 miles with one gallon of fuel. BMW K1200GT on the contrary can travel 37.3 miles with a gallon. There are two ways of showing the fuel economy of a motorcycle - describing how many miles it can travel with a single gallon of fuel (mpg) or how many litters of fuel it is burning on a 100 kilometer trip (l\100km).
